Don't you think that Willie Bloomquist should be an everyday starter for the Seattle Mariners? This guy can
play every single position, including catcher, and has been on the bench mostly for the last 7 years. He should be getting 500 at bats, not 150-200 a year like he has been. He's gritty, he can run, play defense and slap singles in their. He's a good all-around ballplayer, you agree?

Every team an use a guy like Bloomquist, who because of their versatility, can play everywhere and reduce the number of reserves carried on the roster, allowing the team to carry a few extra pitchers. This is important in Seattle where candy-asses like Bedard and Putz cannot stay healthy. Mark Loretta in Houston, Geoff Blum, Augie Ojeda and Marco Scutaro are similar players.
The problem with Bloomquist is that he has almost no power (six career home runs) and is only a .261 lifetime hitter. He is great for giving other players a day off and can probably expect to start three or four times a week while other people get a rest. But he has inadequate skills to be a regular, everyday starter for any team in baseball, other than maybe the Mariners, who are brutal this year.
