Why do MLB Games cost more when the Yankees and/or the Red Sox are playing as the visitors team?
In Major League Baseball (MLB), when the New York Yankees and/or the Boston Red Sox are on the road and become the visiting team at another MLB ballpark, it seams that ticket prices goes up. Here are some ways to illustrate my point;
1) In 2009, both the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox came to play against the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field. When the Yankees and Red Sox came to play, ticket prices went up by $10 a seat.
2) When the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox come to Chicago and play against the White Sox, the price up tickets go up $14.
My question is, why does it cost more to see the New York Yankees and/or the Boston Red Sox when they play on the road at another MLB club.
Teams often have trouble getting a full crowd, but knowing that the Red Sox and Yankees have a devoted fan base which will bring more people into the ballpark,
corporate greed (which is all too common in MLB) says more fans = more money.
