I slammed on my breaks to cause an accident?
I was driving a few days ago and these smartasses were tail-gating me and shouting stuff out their window. Not only that, but they started following me while doing this. I got pissed off and sped up, which provoked them to speed up behind me, and then I slammed on my breaks which caused them to hit me.
They got pissed off and got out of their car and threatened to "kick my ass" for doing that, so I got out a baseball bat and told them to back off. Cops showed up, I've got to go to court now. It was some black guys yelling "Zelda sucks" and **** like that (my car is designed with Zelda decals.)
Did I do the right thing? The only bad thing about this is that if they don't have a job, or don't own any property, they won't be forced to pay the damages. I swear, I hate people that do this.
Seems like they should be getting a ticket for failure to control speed and following too close. Of course you are culpable for driving recklessly, but I would suspect that if you were in fear of being car jacked or whatever, they would be considered to be at fault.
When I had an uninsured driver hit me while she was putting make up on and driving, My insurance paid because she was uninsured. However, she was forced to relinquish her driver's license until I had my car repaired and believe me, I took my time.
