Who do you think will sign Hiroyuki Nakajima, the promising shortstop from Japan?
As most of you are of aware of by now, the Minnesota Twins have locked up Nishioka, who was Japan's best shortstop. Now it is said that Nakajima, a 28 year old all star and gold glove shortstop from Japan, will also enter the Majors.
Which MLB team do you think will win the rights to attain him? Mind you, a team has to bid for the player before making contract negotiations.
Do you think the Yankees will take a shot at him? He's 28 years old, which makes him 8 years younger than a declining Derek Jeter; his defense is much better than Jeter's, as well. Most importantly, it'll take the Yankees a fraction of the cost to get Nakajima compared to Jeter.
Excellent question. Both look really promising. They interesting at worst. Who? That's really hard to tell, though. Players coming from Japan want to play with Ichiro in Seattle. So they might have the best shot.
