the chief difference between them is the fact that rodriguez has never been indicted for a felony; however, there are some interesting similarities and ironic differences between them. they both put up huge stats and are having historic seasons. kobe throws elbows, a-rod knocks the ball out of arroyo's glove in the 2004 alcs. they both play in huge markets. still, while kobe is loved only at home in los angeles, a-rod is respected everywhere but at home in new york. when the lakers' game is on the line, kobe ALWAYS gets the last shot (and the first, and the second, and thirty after that) and draws favorable comparisons to jordan. when the yankees are down in the 9th and a-rod is up at bat, he draws unfavorable comparisons to ortiz (this year he's been clutch for the most part, except last weekend against the sohx). finally, they're probably the last two star athletes you'd want to sit next to on an airplane for several hours. they've never been characterized as charming. any thoughts?
