Mariners Signed Baseball
The Yankees signing Richie Sexson today was a terrible move. Let me tell you why. I live in Seattle and?
am a huge Seattle Mariners fan. I have watched Richie here for the last 4 years, and the one thing I know about Sexson is that he WANTS and needs to play everyday. The Yankees have said they will only start him at first base when they face left handed pitchers, which isn't that often. They will only start Richie maybe 1-2 times a week and use Giambi the rest of the time. I guess they will use Sexson as a DH too, but that won't work. Richie is a guy who loves to play the field. He hates to sit. His numbers are only good when he's out there playing everyday. The big guy gets too rusty when he's been sitting for days. If the Yankees want Sexson to be effective, they should start him at first everyday and move Giambi to full-time DH duties. Sexson is a good first baseman too. You agree?

Not a terrible move. It's a low risk. They're paying him the prorated league min. If he's not working out, they can drop him in a heartbeat. No worse then trying some scrub from the minors.
