hello i am just wondering how much a Willie Mays Signed baseball would be worth today? how can i tell its real
Willie Mays' ball can fetch anywhere from $200 to about $600! A lot depends on the condition of the ball, authenticity, and clearity of the autograph, if there are other auto's on the ball, etc.
There are a number of ways to check its authenticity. You can search your local area for sports card shows. Many times they have authenticators at the events. You can also check out a number of websites online that will certify your ball as well. I would personally check out the websites and look at a few of the autographs and match them up visually first before you go further.
Think about where you got the ball. How did you get it? If someone sold it to you for anything under $100 and it is NOT authenticated, chances are you may have been ripped off. I deal with a lot of fakes all the time from people trying to make a quick buck. If the ball turns out to be real, buy a case for it and manage how fingerprints touch the ball. The grease from your hands can accidently smudge the auto and ultimately damage the ball and its worth.
