How can I tighten up a loose Baseball Glove?
I have a Mizuno MVP baseball glove that is very loose and floppy. I have tightened up all of the laces as tight as they go and it still won't help. The glove is genuine leather and it has been treated with oil before. Some people have told me to bake the glove but I'm not sure how to do it, or if it will even help my problem... The glove is 12.5 inches and I use it for outfield, it is just wayyy too floppy to use in a game yet.... please help GAME TOMORROW!!!
Is it leather or one of those nylon-type fabric gloves?
Either way, you may want to completely re-string the glove. I did mine once and it was a bit of a pain in the a$$. You need to get a special long needle tool to string the new lace through.
If it's a nylon-type glove it may be shot and not worth it. Leather, however my be worth getting it re-laced at a sports shop. Can't be that expensive.
As far as conditioning - believe it or not, the best thing I've ever used on my leather Baseball Gloves is shaving cream. No kidding. I prefer the gel type - but any shaving cream really does a fantastic job at reconditioning leather - better than any glove oil I've ever used. Don't be afraid to use a decent amount and lather up the entire glove and just keep rubbing it in. The leather aborbs it nicely.
PS don't need to use oil or any conditioner on fabric-type gloves.
