What is the best way to repair a large patch of scratches/discoloration on a leather couch?
I have a black leather couch that has a large dry area on one of the cushions. The area has been dry (not conditioned) so it got all scratched up and discolored. Its kind of hard to explain. But I bought a good leather conditioner, conditioned it and of course, it didnt fix the discoloration. What is the best way to repair it myself without having to spend a whole lot? Thanks!
Although it is difficult to match the shades of black colour, you may try to rub the cushion with baby oil (or light olive oil); add a few drops of black ink (for stamp pads) to the oil, or spray a bit of a black leather paint, on the discoloured areas, rub oil well with saturated micro fibre cloth and watch your leather come alive. Try on a small area first for colour match. If necessary, try the colour kit --see http://www.leathermagic.com for a custom colour match, but it is more pricey. Good luck.
