What is the worst run Major League Baseball team?
I'd like to know what fan's in other cities think is the worst run baseball team in the majors. For me it's the Phillies. I have endured following that "Triple A" franchise since 1971. I am grateful for Steve Carlton, Larry Bowa, Garry Maddox, Bill Robinson, and Dallas Green for his success in 1980. But I doubt that there are few teams in baseball that can beat them for the title of Most Cluelessly Operated. Stubborn and stupid also come to mind. They have their new stadium which isn't too friendly for their own pitching staff, have tons of revenue coming in now, and go and hire an Ed Wade clone. The manager is a beginner and they sign mostly washed up scrubs. Their pathetic "prowess" is exceeded only by the basketball team that plays a few blocks down Pattison Avenue. I honestly believe that the wrong team left the city in 1954. By the way, I couldn't stand Schmidt even though I admit that he was the greatest 3rd basemen in team history. I'd really like your comments.
That's a tough question. As I am not aware of each team's GM or owner.
I would venture to say that The Cubs have a pretty bad run organization (as the Tribune owns, and they seem to be more concerned with turning a profit than fielding a decent team).
Also, from the surface, it looks as if The Royals have it pretty bad, and have had for several years.
If their management team wanted to improve the team, they would improve thier farm system.
One team that has made a good turn around (and I am bragging here) is My Beloved Tigers.
David Dombrowski has been GM for 4 years now, and he has stocked our minor league teams with much talent, which is starting to pay off (justin verlander, joel zumaya, Marcus Thames, etc.).
