How should i break in and condition my glove?
So my baseball season is just a few weeks away. During the off season I bought to awesome gloves. A mexican rolin custom glove with my name and mexican flag on it and a rawlings gold glove elite. Neither is real broken in and i want to get them ready. I'd also like for them to last a long time. I thought conditioning them would help but after researching a little, i hear all of these bad things about adding products to your glove. I bought Dr.Glove foam glove conditioner. I've never conditioned or oiled any of my other gloves but they didn't last so long. Should i put this stuff on my gloves? Will it harm my gloves in any ways? What else can i do to my gloves to get them ready for baseball season?
There are some questions with conditioning and adding products to your glove, as you mentioned. You bought some nice gloves, so I would be careful. I have never used any kind of conditioners on my nicer gloves (Akadema) and they have lasted me for years. I know they aren't the same gloves, but I wouldn't think good gloves like yours would really need conditioner. From my experience, when it comes to breaking in your gloves, find someone who will throw with you and throw for 10-15 minutes a day. This will help your glove to break in to your hand better. Don't put a ball in it and rap it with a band or anything. This will make it easier to squeeze, but it won't fit to your hand as well. And do NOT let anyone else use your gloves. Again, it won't fit your hand as well. Hope this helps.
