trade opinions?
i'm cleaning house on my overrated, underproducing squad. it's a 14-player keeper league, and here's what's going on with me. last week i moved jose reyes out for josh hamilton and tim linecum, and i'm just getting warmed up. i'm starting to tire of waiting for alex rios to put it all together, and am thinking about offering him for hunter pence straight-up. my other of's are hamilton, carlos lee, david dejesus and andruw jones (yuck). i'm currently plugging the gap at ss with a platoon of omar vizquel and jerry hairston, but obviously that's not a long-term solution. i've got brian roberts and robby cano at 2b, and as soon as cano heats up, i'm thinking about seeing if i can trade roberts for tulowitzki, thinking his stock is never going to be as low as it is right now. aside from a good young ss, i'm pretty well set. what do you think of those potential moves, and is there another ss besides tulo that you would think about targeting?
I have no problem with you strategy as it is pretty good thinking (I'm not sure how it will work). I was kind of thinking that Roberts for Tulowitzki is giving up too much and I'm not sure someone is going to take Rios (who trade value has taken a hit) for Pence straight up. Personally, I'd try to trade Roberts for Tejada/Furcal (with Hairston on your team you can afford to wait for Furcal) straight up or trade Roberts for Pence and you may be able to squeeze a 4th OF in the trade too (to replace DeJesus or Jones). Then us Rios to get your SS if you trade Roberts for Pence (Guillen, M. Young and Escobar are some options).
I don't know how you pulled off the trade for Hamilton and Lincecum, but that was a great move for you. Hamilton is not a guy I'd be trading right now (esp. in a keeper league).
