Scifi: are modern shows like Heroes & Battlestar better than the retro classics?
Im a big sci fi fan.
Loved all the cult classics like Star Trek, original battlestar, even buck-sodding-rodgers.
But shows like the current battlestar are some of the best TV to be seen.
wot do u think? best argument gets top answer.
I would personally say the modern shows are better because of the way technology has advanced. Now it's possible to create realistic looking effects to transport the viewer into the world the makers have created. Also the typical elements used in those old shows are now pushed against - we don't have superheroes dressed in skintight lycra now, unless there is a joke being made.
But the shows that we're watching now will probably become dated as technology moves on, and they owe a lot to the sci-fi/fantasy of the 50's-70's, so I'm not sure one is better than the other: they're kind of symbiotic.
